Frequently asked questions
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, I am currently accepting new clients. However my client list is small in order to ensure the quality of services. Please check out my current availability via contact page.
What's your payment/cancellation/no show policy?
Payments for each appointment will be made by debit or credit card or ACH transfer via a therapy hosting platform. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel an appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a fee, unless I can reschedule with you within the same calendar week. After 2 no-shows or late cancellations within 3 months, I won't be able to schedule further appointments. This policy does NOT apply to emergency or unforeseeable situations, in this case, please let me know immediately.
How much does it cost?
Please check Services & Fees for current rates.
How long will I need therapy for?
It's case by case. Some people benefit from 5 sessions, others from 6 months to years. I'll provide input, feedback, and recommendations to decide what's best for you.
Do you take insurance?
I am in network with Aetna, United Healthcare, Oscar & Oxford.
Do you fill out FMLA paperwork?
I assist with FMLA for my existing self-pay clients who have worked with me weekly for at least 3 months, and continuously work with me weekly during the entire FMLA leave. (Read more below)
Do you write letters for emotional support animals or legal purposes?
No. I do not provide letters for legal/court cases, or for emotional support animals/therapy animals/animal-assisted accommodations. Writing such letters requires specific evaluations and expertise outside the scope of my practice and training. For these needs, I recommend seeking assistance from professionals who specialize in these areas.
My Responsibility as a Therapist
Confidentiality
You have the right to therapy confidentiality, except in specific cases (read "Confidentiality & Exceptions" on the bottom of this page). I cannot share session details without your written consent. Under the Health Care Information Act, I may legally discuss your situation with another healthcare provider or a family member only in emergencies. You control who receives information, revocable at any time. HIPAA protects your privacy. I use encrypted email providers however it still poses potential risk to confidentiality.
Diagnosis
If a third party, such as an insurance company, is paying fully/partially for your services, I need to provide them with a diagnosis to receive payment. For self-pay clients with no insurance involved, there's no such disclosure.
Your Responsibility as a Therapy Client
Attendance
You are responsible to attend sessions at the scheduled time. If you are late, we will end on time and not run over into the next person’s session. Over 20 minutes late, your session will be forfeited and you will be charged a fee for the no-show. Late cancellation/no-show fees are never covered by insurance.
